Meet Vershalee Shukla, MD

Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Shukla is a board- certified radiation oncologist in private practice in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area for the past eleven years.  She completed her Radiation Oncology training at the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.  There she gained extensive training in stereotactic cranial and body radiotherapy, Gamma knife, high dose brachytherapy, low dose brachytherapy, Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy and 3D conformal radiotherapy.   She went on to complete highly specialized training at the world-renowned University of Heidelberg, in Germany, in Proton and Heavy Ion therapy.  Dr. Shukla treats all cancers requiring radiation.  

Dr. Shukla has authored extensively on various topics in the field of oncology and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.  She has published over thirty publications and two textbook chapters.  She has been invited and given multiple lectures at both the international and national level. Dr. Shukla recently became the Medical Advisor to Phoenix Medical Professional Journal.  She has also been interviewed by the New York Times, Boston Globe and INC magazine as an expert on new technologies in cancer care. Dr. Shukla is recognized by Phoenix Magazine as a Top Doc in 2015-2020. 

In 2018, Dr. Shukla spearheaded and co-founded a cancer screening program for Firefighters in the state of Arizona.  Firefighters are at high risk for occupational cancer.  Dr. Shukla is the medical director for cancer screening for Phoenix Fire Department, the fourth largest Fire department in the US.  She currently runs the most progressive cancer screening program for First Responders in the US.  In addition, Dr. Shukla has secured multiple FEMA grants to screen Firefighters across the state of Arizona.  Dr. Shukla is also an advocate for Firefighters and served on a Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Minimizing Contaminant Risk and Exposure for First Responders in Arizona.  Dr. Shukla  was one of the first physicians to adapt the use of Galleri blood test for cancer screening. 

Dr. Shukla is committed to providing the highest quality of cancer care to her patients. She does this by utilizing the cutting- edge technology not only to treat cancers but to detect cancers early.   Early detection leads to less toxic treatment and excellent outcomes for patients.   Survivorship and quality of life are of the utmost importance to Dr. Shukla and honored to be working with the esteemed, Dr. Deepak Chopra to develop yoga and meditation programs for cancer patients.  Finally, Dr. Shukla is committed to giving back to her community and does so by leading a Mobile COVID-19 testing and vaccination van for the City of Phoenix which served over 200,000 low-income patients in the height of the pandemic.
